Our daughter has had a tv in the bedroom ever since she was born. We shared a room until she was 13 months. She wouldn't go to sleep unless she had a tv on. She's now 3 and still has to have the tv on. We want to break her oil expeller from this but everything we tried hasn't worked. We've tried night lights the stars you stick to the wall and we even tried a VCR so when the movies over the tv would shut off. All she did was wake us up at 3am crying until it was turned it back on. Her little sister shares a room with her so when she start crying it wakes her up. Any mommy's have any adivce on how to make her not be depended palm oil processing machine on the tv while she sleeps?

Creat a new routine for her. Let her know beforehand that she is going to have a bath, put on pjs, brush teeth and read a book. Cuddle her for a while and off to bed. We have used an air purifier on high always so that they have a sound to sleep to and so we can do things around the house without them waking up. Just be a little patient as this is going to be a habit that will be hard to break. And try not to give in because she will be better off in the long run. If there's no other incentive know that watching tv before bed stimulates the brain as opposed to having a calming effect. Best of luck. :) Oh, one more thing, try a nice massage before bed. I lather baby oil or cream and go in a downward motion throughout the body, especially the arms and legs. Don't go upward as it stimulates as well. Keep us updated. :)

We never had a tv in ODS' room. The problem was that DH would let ODS lay with him in our bed to fall asleep which meant he was able to watch/listen to the tv. As a side note, I don't even like having a tv in our room. I think they belong in living spaces not sleep spaces.

Anyway, we had gotten a picture projector/noise machine thing as a gift at some point and had never used it before. I think it's Homedics brand or something like that. Now ODS needs that on with the fish pictures and twinkle twinkle little star music. He also needs his flashlight and likes to bring a book or truck with too. I let him pick one thing other than his flashlight and that has worked for us.
